Crime Minister Trudeau must GO – Canadian gov’t funding the spread of hate
Let me clarify that a Canadian Muslim (like me) wants nothing to do with people who have a hateful ideology.
The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a registered charity and calls itself one of Canada’s largest grassroots Muslim organizations.
In 2021, the organization received funding grants from the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario.
They found themselves being audited by the Canada Revenue Agency whose job is to keep an eye on charities. MAC launched a Charter rights challenge against the CRA claiming that their audit of the charity has been tainted by ‘bias’ and ‘Islamophobia’.
Ah — Islamophobia — the pet deflection of some who practice political Islam, and a tool to be used frequently to deter critique and investigation. Thanks to our naïve Canadian government, Islamophobia is a well-funded program.
MAC has an interesting history and background.
In December 2020, MAC held a Scholars Summit which included a number of radical Islamic ideologues who have in the past promoted antisemitism, terror and homophobia.
One of the speakers was Tareq Al-Suwaidan, A Kuwaiti writer and businessman. B’nai Brith reports that in a sermon posted in 2019 to his YouTube channel with over 55,000 views, al-Suwaidan alleges that Judaism teaches its followers “how to manipulate and cheat God,” that “Jews are permitted to rape non-believing women” and that “Jews must kill those non-Jews whom they can manage.”
As though it wasn’t enough to host radical speakers in the past, it seems that MAC is confident enough to do this again with impunity. Perhaps they know that government will turn a blind eye to their shenanigans.
From July 1–3 this year, MAC is hosting a conference at the Enercare Care Centre in Toronto, and I took time to check the website.
Oh my — the speakers list is long and looks impressive. They are referred to as “a global community of scholars, writers, thinkers, influencers, activists, and professionals who will engage us to reimagine what it means to thrive as a Canadian Muslim.”
Seriously? Let me clarify that a Canadian Muslim (like me) wants nothing to do with people who have a hateful ideology.
Let’s take a look at the speakers.
Zahra Billoo is executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in Holy Land Foundation’s trial.
In a report by Canary Mission, it was said that Billoo supports the boycott, divest, sanction (BDS) movement and was voted off the Women’s March board when her social media was found to be “promoting extreme anti-Zionism and conspiracy theories.”
According to extensive research done by The Investigative Project, Billoo has criticized U.S. troops, claiming they are terrorists. She wrote on twitter “And to be clear, I would argue that many of our troops are engaged in terrorism.” She even told the Muslim community that meeting with FBI could put the entire Muslim community at risk
Ms. Billoo has made various anti-Israel comments and has equated Zionism with racism. “Zionism IS racism,” she wrote in a June 4, 2012 Twitter post. “[Apartheid] Israel commits war crimes as a hobby,” she wrote in a separate post a week later.
Billoo attempts to discredit anyone who she disagrees with on her image of Islam. She has repeatedly disparaged Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a respected, moderate Muslim and head of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.
Also on the list of speakers at the MAC Conference is Dunia Shuaib. Israel Now reports that Shuaib claims ISIS’s penchant for burning its prisoners alive is no worse than Israeli and American military actions, which she refers to as “terrorism.”
Another speaker is Imam Suhaib Webb. According to the Middle East Forum, Webb, a convert tries to pass off as a moderate but a closer look at Webb’s sermon reveals a far less liberal persona. He believes that those who commit adultery should be stoned to death.
In 2001, according to FBI surveillance documents, Webb appeared alongside al-Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki to raise $100,000 for Jamil Abdullah al-Amin, who was convicted of shooting two U.S. police officers and killing one of them.
Sheikh Mohammed Rateb Nabulsi is also a listed speaker, who sanctioned Palestinian suicide bombings and who was banned from Denmark as a “hate preacher.” In a letter reproduced by Investigative Project, he writes “The author of this fatwa says: the wicked Jews are a collection of defects and imperfections, and a hotbed of vices and evils. They are the worst enemies of God, against Islam and its people.”
Along comes Siraj Wahhaj, whom I have exposed before as he is frequent speaker in Canada.
According to a report on CBS News, the Brooklyn imam was on a list of people who “may be alleged as co-conspirators” to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, according to court documents released by prosecutors. Siraj Wahhaj, testified as a character witness for Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the notorious “blind sheikh” who was convicted in 1995 of plotting terror attacks in the U.S.
Middle East Forum exposes Wahhaj expressed extraordinary intolerance toward non-Muslims, women, homosexuals and others. He is infamous for his 1992 threat to burn down a LGBTQ-friendly mosque in Toronto.
Jamal Badawi is another controversial speaker at this conference. Once again, Investigative Project reports that during a February 2009 speech on “Understanding Jihad and Martyrdom,” at a Mosque in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Badawi explained that Gaza-based terrorists were fighting a jihad and that those who were killed were martyrs. He railed against those who criticized the terrorists or cooperated with the Israelis, saying that it was an “excess” by more moderate Muslims to come out against their brothers fighting the Jewish state.
Omar Abdel Kafy is also an invited speaker at the conference. According to Canadian Jewish News, he was already dropped from speaking at a conference in Niagara region after his blatant antisemitic views were exposed. Abdelkafy can also be seen in an online video accusing Zionists of collaborating with Freemasons to “spread corruption on Earth,” and quoting from the antisemitic document, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Obviously, it’s becoming the norm rather than a coincidence to openly indulge in antisemitism and promote hate.
In the National Post, journalist Terry Glavin asks why a man identified as a high-ranking member of a notorious Palestinian terrorist group was allowed to give a speech in city-owned facility in Ottawa?
The point is: why is my beloved, peace-loving Canada becoming a hub for some unsavoury characters who have a clear history of spreading hate? I’m not holding my breath about getting any answers soon.
