In AL UQAYLAH, Libya – Rebel troops were attacked by troops loyal to Muammar el-Qaddafi with fighter planes, helicopters, and tanks in the coastal township Bin Jawwad and were able to drive them east. For the moment it looks as though they have been stalled, but hope for the rebels is that the antigovernment fighting will continue with a steady march to the city of Tripoli.

The rebels have stated that they have been trying very hard to advance but the firepower held by the loyalist troops are too much for them and they need reinforcements. Other fighters that have joined the rebels say that, “this is only temporary” and they will regroup and join others in Bin Jawwad. After the major victory at Ras Lanuf taking the oil port, this defeat comes only a day after the celebration that took place there.
