More Pills, Less Talk
Normally when going to the Psychiatrists you will sit down for an hour and discuss what may be on your mind and experience a bit of therapy while you’re there. This has all changed, studies are showing that many of the 48,000 Psychiatrists are no longer providing talk therapy and only after visiting with a client for a short period they will write out a prescription for medication. The sit and talk therapy had originally been developed by Freud and was the main stay of therapy for decades has now been replaced with only a few minutes of “ask and tell” and this results in the client walking out with a prescription. This switch that is happening is leaving the Psychiatric world in a wonder. Many Psychiatrists that do use their practice to do real talk therapy are left feeling unhappy and inadequate. But many of them are also following suit.
